About
Word Metro provides editorial services to help you communicate clearly, connect with your readers, and finish what you set out to write.
We're grounded in two convictions: work should be done with integrity, and if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. That standard applies whether the project is a 400-page manuscript or a single web page.
Betsy Blondin has spent more than 30 years in book and newspaper publishing, with an eight-year foundation in legal writing that taught her precision before she ever picked up a red pen professionally.
Twenty-four years in book publishing
As publisher and managing editor, Betsy compiled, edited, and published two nonfiction anthologies, and directed editorial production on more than 75 illustrated history books — coordinating writers, profile writers, photo editors, and illustrators from concept to final proof. She has written and edited chapter content, captions, author profiles, cover copy, website content, and marketing materials of every kind, and has guided numerous authors through book consultations, proposals, and manuscript summaries. See the Portfolio page for specific titles.

Four years as a newspaper copyeditor
The last read before print at a daily paper, where she copyedited hundreds of articles, captions, and headlines, wrote news and feature stories herself, and ran grammar workshops for the newsroom staff.
Eight years in legal writing
As a legal secretary and assistant, researching law, drafting court documents, and writing a divorce manual — early training in the precision she now brings to every manuscript.
Beyond editing
Betsy has published dozens of news and feature articles and several magazine pieces, co-authored an academic paper on the Blondins' Assignment America road trip, and co-presented on it at a national conference on families, technology, and education.
